Parents
Competition?
God has to work on all of us in specific areas of our lives. He works with some of us in areas
that others do not have an issue with and do not understand how it may be an issue. But,
we all have a "plank" in our eye on something. Luke 6:41 “Why do you look at the speck
of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?”
For those who have the "plank" of being too competitive, this is a reminder to make sure you
have a firm grip on your “bridle” this Saturday for the tournament.
This tournament is not about me, the referees, the coaches or the parents. This is for the
players. Let's give them a pleasurable experience. Lets all encourage, cheer and motivate our players.
Please do not referee! Please do not Coach!
Let the Referees, Ref the game!
Let the Coaches, Coach the game!
Let the Players, Play the game!
Let the Fans, Cheer and Encourage!
There will be bad calls from our referees. There will be bad decisions made by the coaches. There will be players on the other team that are not playing fair. Your child’s team will get scored on. There may be games that are uneven. I know this all will happen! When it does, control your tongue and Smile , a cheerful face always calms your spirits.
Cherish each opportunity that you have to watch your child play a game. These years will go by too fast and one day you will wish you had them back to savor every moment.
Loving every minute,
Fred

Are you setting a good example for your child?
Sometimes in the rush of getting kids back and forth to practice, fitting in games and the general juggle of our daily lives we lose sight of the whole reason we put our kids in sports. If as parents we want to really help our children succeed at sports, we need to take a step back and put youth sports into perspective!
5 Tips Every Parent Needs to Keep
Kids’ Sports In Perspective
| 1. |
Remember, it really is ONLY a game. |
| 2. |
Youth sports are a healthy outlet for your child’s energy and a pathway to a life of fitness. |
|
| 3. |
This is an opportunity for kids to make new friends and to be a part of a team. |
| 4. |
Sports are an opportunity to learn life lessons, including that winning isn't everything. |
| 5. |
Success in sports does not come down to one meet, one game, one competition, or one race. Success in sports is the culmination of the journey your athlete takes over the course of many years – the highs, the lows, the struggles, the lessons learned, friendships made, and all the other little events that help define your athlete's career. |
